American Business Communicators has been in existence since 1992. It was founded in New York City by a group of typographers, writers, graphic designers, and similarly-employed people who, over the course of a long lunch, remembered the old admonition: it’s not just what you say, it’s how you say it. The ready availability of low-priced laser printers and other equipment had opened a Pandora’s Box full of bad design.
The founding members felt that it was time to acknowledge high quality in an arena suddenly flooded with mediocrity. The mechanism for this evolved into the Annual Report Competition.
In addition to the Annual Report Competition, ABC administers the Walden Green Award for Environmental Stewardship and a Community Relations awards program. ABC also offers a unique certification program for assembly and owner’s manuals, called Easy as ABC.
